Reaching Durham with the Gospel of Christ

What is AWANA???

The 2012-2013 AWANA year has begun.

Awana is a nondenominational ministry that assists churches in reaching children and teenagers with the gospel of Jesus Christ and training them to serve Him.  "Awana Clubs International" supplies the programs, materials and training for more than 12,000 churches in over 110 countries.  Their message is simple: They exist to provide a ministry that is all about fun with a purpose — to win and grow kids for Christ!

Awana provides youth with a fun environment to learn the gospel through Bible memory verses and fun, Bible-centered curriculum. Other activities include games, crafts, awards and other opportunities to increase their knowledge of Jesus Christ.

Each club year builds on the previous club materials, taking them deeper into God’s Word while giving unsaved boys and girls regular opportunities to hear the gospel and come to faith in Jesus Christ. Awana teaches the truth of God’s Word and encourages each child to follow Christ in their daily lives.

Awana gives children an opportunity to have fun in a wholesome environment while learning valuable lessons and making positive friends.  There are games, Bible memorization, and Council Time. Kids can earn Awana bucks that can be spent at the Awana store.  Special theme nights are held throughout the year--nights like twins night, bring a friend night and others!

Awana is a family ministry. The programs and materials are designed to reach children, youth and parents with the gospel message. Awana encourages parental involvement with the use of activity books and memory verses the children bring home. We consider parents the primary source of each childs spiritual nurturing and growth.
